Tinker
Quarter Horse Mare
Veterinarian: Erich Hodges, DVM
HISTORY –
Tinker, a pleasure horse at Swiss Farms, had become progressively less active due to arthritis. She started showing signs of stiffness, especially in the morning, and was hesitant to go out into the arena. At times, Tinker would stand with one foot out, shifting her weight from left to right, attempting to relieve pressure from her joints.
EXAM –
Swelling in both knee joints
Stepped out with left leg to relieve pressure
Head bobbing with activity
Visible swelling, degeneration of cartilage, and narrowing of joint spaces
DIAGNOSIS –
Arthritis
TREATMENTS –
Tinker received an injection of Spryng™ with OsteoCushion™ Technology in the top and middle joints of the carpus.
OUTCOME –
Within a week and a half after the Spryng™ injection, Tinker showed noticeable improvements:
Significant improvement in weight balance
Reduced swelling and better flexion in both front knees
Tinker became more like her normal self. She regained her energy and became more active, even running around the arena once again.
